The Business Process Problem: In the wake of the coronavirus, demand for takeout grew exponentially. A top takeout delivery service with ~$900MM in revenue needed help structuring menu data...but existing vendors couldn't scale to meet demand. We made a ramp up plan, ultimately going from a sample of 16 structured menus / day to 275 menus each day in ten days.
The Business Impact: We organized a team of more than fifty to get this done while our engineering team built a custom menu extraction tool for our team to use. Meanwhile, the client had just two points of contact. By day ten of this work, we were exceeding targets and transforming roughly 80K menu items each day.
